Oh well, I'll load up at the next gun show. Ammo doesn't seem to do anything but rise rapidly in price. |
Re: get your ammo now before there aint no more
I heard about the ammo dump this morning, it may very well have bigger implications. I believe the natives may have been exposed to the war machine long enough at this point to begin to understand how they can fight it. Our military has great equipment and plenty of spirit but is riddled with serious holes in everything from logistics to leadership. At the end of the day I really care a lot more for the life of our American soldiers than the people they have been duped into fighting and I'd much rather see peace and prosperity in the region for all... but I have a suspicion that this may mark the point at which things start going badly our leaders' little bout of military adventurism. If they ever figure out about our ships it's going to be all over.
Oh well, another reason to buy that progressive reloader I always wanted... |
Re: get your ammo now before there aint no more
its artillery shells and crap like that. not so much small arms. also you're talking one supply dump for 223 and 308 and 50 cal supply for the Iraq coalition, or maybe just a part of it, that's assuming there was small arms ammo there and not just the big stuff. also, what is the inventory in terms of duration?
so I think it will have little or no effect on small arms ammo prices except that the usual assortment of profiteers will jump on anything to scare the "survivalist" types into loading up. never buy hardware like this in a panic you will ALWAYS get ripped off. that's speaking from over two decades of very close attention to such prices and supply situations and legislation and the whole shebang. |
Re: get your ammo now before there aint no more
Actually, it was a arty and small arms depot. 5.56 and 7.62 were already in short supply and this won't help that situation. Prices will go up, after all, they were going up without this pressure.
Like you said, it doesn't matter if this incident materially effects supply or demand, it will effect psychology, and at the end of the day, that is what moves markets. I agree that now is a bad time to buy, as a lot of folks are going to get scalped near term. The problem is that if you don't already have the boat loaded, a scalping now is a heck of a lot better than getting caught with your pants down. I'm glad my boat is loaded, I'm just buying a little here and there to replace what I use. I actually bought a bunch of ammo last year to sell, but it's gone up so fast now I'm scared to. Oh well, if I get stuck with it it's infinitely more useful than stock certificates, or even PMs.:Sorry: |
Re: get your ammo now before there aint no more
I am lucky enough to live in a place where there is at least one gun show a mounth and I try to attend them as often as i can.In the last year I have noticed that the ammo at these shows seems to dry up on the first day at least for certain types of ammo and that is even with the higher prices .I guess if you wanted to emplement a defacto gun ban with out passing a law to do it the easiest way to do so would be to dry up the ammo you could blame it on a far away war and not have to take any heat from the populace I cant prove any thing but i know this ammo shortage thing stinks the price of this stuff seems to be going up much faster than gold or silver I wounder in the long run if ammo might not be a better investment then gold or silver
